I'm going to list mine in a few. It''l take me some time because I listen to a very large range of music. I saw a thread like this on a big public board the other day and was totally surprised by what people posted. It doesn't have to be the beest stuff...just what you can listen to over and over again.

In no particular order:
  1. Talking Heads - Fear of Music
  2. Iggy Pop - New Values
  3. X - Wild Gift
  4. The Clash - London Calling
  5. The Clash - Sandinista!
  6. The Clash - Combat Rock
  7. The Clash - Give Em Enough Rope
  8. Cock Sparrer - Shock Troops
  9. Television - Marquee Moon
  10. Ramones - Rocket to Russia

But they wouldn't be CDs, I'd like to have them on vinyl if I had a turntable on my island.

Wouldn't it be wiser to find some European mega release that has 28 tracks on it...

Then you could have more cds on the island.

Should I assume that I or the deserted island have a CD player with listening devices, endless battery life or access to the islands power grid, and the ability to protect the CDs and player from the elements?

If I can assume that, why can't I just assume I have satellite connectivity off the island and download anything I want?

It would be easier but I wanted every song on all those records. I feel like Sandinista! is a great pick because its a triple album.

My personal rules for my list: No "Greatest Hits" albums, only one album per artists:

1. Van Halen - "1984"
2. Guns N Roses - "Appetite for Destruction"
3. Def Leppard - "Hysteria"
4. Puddle of Mudd - "Life on Display"
5. Foo Fighters - "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace"
6. The Cars - "The Cars"
7. Huey Lewis and the News - "Fore"
8. Peter Gabriel - "So"
9. The Police - "Ghost in the Machine"
10. Queen - "Jazz"

It was a tough list. Because of my rules, I had to leave off some albums containing my favorite song from an artist in favor of an album containing a greater number of songs I enjoy...but that would probably be close to my finalized list.

What do you mean what? Those are great albums...Besides I have it covered should some females make their way to the island.

Britney and Miley for the young boob developing 15-17 year olds;

Blue Eyes for the 55+ crowd;

Billy Joel, The Eagles, and Simon & Grafunkel for any Baby Boomers;

C'mon Dan....you have to have a plan for getting laid...Although...This shit doesn't work for me...but at least it's a plan.

It is just about the weirdest collection of music I have ever seen. It doesn't make sense to me.

Friday Night in San Francisco - Guitar Trio
Close to the Edge (maybe Relayer) - Yes
The Great Deceiver Box Set - King Crimson
A Love Supreme - Coltrane
The Bends - Radiohead
Fun House - The Stooges
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Mighty Joe Moon - Grant Lee Buffalo
Kicking Television - Wilco

It's tough for me not to pick a Bowie or Peter Gabriel / Genesis album or a Miles Davis album. The Police is tough to leave off. Maybe I should have a Dylan album on there as well, but there just isn't one that does it completely for me.

Can't I just bring my fucking ipod, man?

Damn, I left Look Sharp off my list. That's a must have too. Good call on that one.
