I'm sorry. I didn't realize potash had a thing for Jess.
"The business of baseball is to make money, not break even. I don't understand why you think the Pirates should run their team like a charity." - Willlton 6/18/2009

"The Bay trade doesn't look like it (a slam dunk winner), but if you take into account the fact that all they lost was eight months of Jason Bay's services, as well as the fact that even the Red Sox look like they won't be able to re-sign him, it's not nearly the loser many people seem to think." - tWTM 11/26/2009

"Morton is finding himself, now while this may sound weird and out there, but the fact he put on a solo concert at Piratefest shows he finally has the confidence that he lacked within himself that he didn't have in the lower minors." - aso513 2/8/2010

"Dave Littlefield vindicated." - Xiga 4/30/2011 after one scoreless inning of relief by Daniel Moskos.

"Hanrahan and Cedeno would be a gross overpayment for Belt. Sorry, but I'll stick with my realistic analysis of the market and the teams involved." - Steve Zielinski 5/25/2011

"He (Barmes) could have a .000 Batting Average and still be an asset." - bradlej31 5/28/2012

"The last time the Pirates won an extra-inning game in St. Louis that lasted at least 16 frames was April 20, 1986 at Chicago." - Kristy Robinson 8/19/2012

"I want to tweet something clever and interesting to you that will earn your respect and make you smile, since you do that to me all the time." - jpbucco to Colin Dunlap 4/12/2016

"If the Pirates had acquired Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins, I’m not sure they would have “won” the Benedict trade." - David Todd 11/11/2015

Of course, the Cardinals win again. Has to be at least 2-3 weeks of this same result stuff at this point.

The Pirates are 20-5 in their last 25...and gained 1 game on St Louis.

Five shutouts in six games ... wow.

If Jeff Locke and his 8.37 road ERA keep it going tonight, they'll never give up a run again.

The other way to look at that is the Crads are 19-6 in their last 25 and haven't extended their lead at all.

Just saw on ESPN...

--First time the Pirates have done that since 1903.

--Only one of five times in MLB history a team has done it.

--The last time was in 1995 by the Orioles.

The Pirates are going to have to hold serve until they meet at PNC before the ASB. That's when they can make their move and set the tone for the second part of the season. That series is huge. They have to take 3 of 4 at minimum if next to no ground is gained until then.

Yeah, I have little faith in Locke tonight. Hope the bats show up.

Since May 20, the Pirates have scored the 4th most runs in the NL...only the Rockies, Braves, and Giants have scored more (and the Braves and Giants only 4 runs more than the Pirates).

For all the angst over the offense...

Nonetheless, the Philiies series was worrisome. Having to win two 1-0 extra inning games against one of the worst teams in baseball did not inspire confidence in the offense.

The Friday game was worrisome, Sunday they faced Hamels, that was more understandable.

I always thought they should have kept Alex Presley.

And Nyjer Morgan.

And Lastings Millege.

And Fort McKenry.

We weren't going anywhere anyhow.

At least they were easy to like (the way Freddie Sanchez was) & (mostly) fun to watch.

Keep those downvotes coming, assclowns.

John Danks is just as bad as Locke. (4.59 FIP) so I fully expect a 4 hour slugfest tonight.

One good thing is the White Sox have a .523 OPS against lefties

Two games out of 162. That's all that was.

I think I remember the Orioles doing that. I was on the Eastern Shore for college at the time. I think it was at the end of the season maybe.

You know who was a Freddie Sanchez loving fool? Longhornbuc.
LHB loved him some Freddie.
