As soon as somebody posts that Corey Hart hasn't started in a month, Corey Hart gets a start. I say nobody should post his name from now on. He can be The No-Hit Designated Hitter Who Shall Not Be Named.

I scratched his name out. Again, that prolly means he will have a couple of key hits today. After which he should be released.

I am just surprised Hurdle isn't batting him second. That seems to be where he likes to place guys who can't hit and haven't been starting when he finally starts them.

In the major leagues. In 2015.

Do other teams hang onto their washed-up Spring Training guys deep into June, or are the Pirates really the only team that does that?

Thank God he's slow, I guess.

Cervelli can't even hit at the top of this shit lineup.

And speaking of the lineup, why does switch hitting Neil Walker never start against left handlers? I can't remember the last start he's had against one. Hurdle has essentially made him a platoon player.

Hurdle sucks.

It's even more dumb since he actually was decent against lefties last year (.727 OPS).

Hurdle sucks.

His career splits against LHP are less than stellar. Miles better than today's starter at first base, of course, but less than stellar.

If they had a real RH first baseman, making Walker a platoon player would be a decent idea.

Probably because Mercer rakes against LHP and both Harrison and Kang have better numbers than Walker against LHP. Walker has a .429 OPS against LHP this season...I'm fine with this.

Play Harrison in right instead of fucking Hart.

What's that, 15 mil worth of platoon players on the right side of the IF?

You want to sit Walker against lefties periodically, okay. But making him a straight platoon guy is stupid.

Outside of Pittsburgh, 15 million is one player anyway.

I just took a gander at Corey Hart's stats.

After throwing up, I noticed that he has hit into five double plays in 41 at bats. You pretty much have to be trying to hit into that many double plays.

If you're going to spot play Walker against LHP, a guy like Cole Hamels probably isn't the time. I'd be fine with playing him over Hart, though for as bad as Hart is, he's probably a better hitter than Walker against LHP.

People really underrate how blah of a season Walker is having.

See my post in the game thread yesterday regarding Walker's season. It's not been unnoticed.

Current Pirates lifetime against Cole Hamels (hide the children):

http://espn.go.com/m...216/cole-hamels

Not surprisingly the only Pirate with any kind of decent record against Hamels in more than a handful of at bats is Cutch.

I thought maybe Hurdle was starting Hart because five years ago he was good against Hamels, but not so, though he does have a couple HRs against him. Walker is 2-13 lifetime against him with both hits being singles.

In short, Burnett has to have the mentality today that one run will be the difference.

The weather could play a role today. Supposed to rain on and off most of the day, so that could limit how long Hamels and AJ can go. I assume Watson is unavailable today and Caminero and Melancon have both pitched the last 2, so this will be interesting.

Tailor-made for a Vance Worley sighting.
