He shouldn't have retired. Shit....just find a team that has the Pirates coming up on their schedule and just like that....career magically looks renewed.

At least for that one start anyway.

He could sign one day contracts every five days and actually get some HOF votes.

It's about time. He lost interest about six years ago.

February 8, 2008: Traded by the Baltimore Orioles to the Seattle Mariners for Tony Butler (minors), Adam Jones, Kam Mickolio, George Sherrill and Chris Tillman.

It's this sort of shit that has kept the Mariners from putting together anything to support King Felix.

Its the PCL and all that, but 25 yo Alex Dickerson posting a .308/.378/.483 line with El Paso (Padres AAA) in LF. Not sure if he'll ever get a shot in the majors - could SD have acquired more OFs this offseason? - but I'm happy for him that he's at least making a case for himself.
In any human group, family, tribe, (or baseball team), there are norms - shared expectations of behavior. Any member who deviates from these norms calls into question the basic values of the group. And groups don't like to have their basic values questioned. It makes them nervous. - Jim Bouton in Ball Four Plus Ball Five

What about doctors who make house calls? Repairmen who know how to fix things? And ballplayers who hustle? And boxers who get carried out of the ring, instead of quitting because of stomach cramps? And what about the death penalty for scum who take a human life and snuff it out like it's so much garbage? I've seen the past, gentlemen, and it works. - William Shatner as T.J. Hooker in episode 1.1 'The Protectors'

Diego Moreno has made it to the majors with the Yankees, he gave up a couple runs today, I think it was his second appearance. He wad one of the two in the AJ Burnett deal, along with Exicardo Cayonez. He was a top ten prospect (even as a RP) in this system around the time NH took over.

I was looking at what Brandon Moss was doing this year. His numbers are almost exactly the same as Pedro's.

Moss: .233 BA, .307 OBP, .438 Slugging, .745 OPS, 105 OPS+
Pedro: .233 BA, .310 OBP, .432 Slugging, .742 OPS, 105 OPS+

So are you saying the Bay trade was a slam dunk winner?

I didn't know ecb was bilingual (I'm sure tim and Kristy will be offended by that statement).

To say Sano simply "didn't sign" with the Pirates is embarrassingly shortsighted. Or in Tim's case, blatantly dishonest.
