Doing a brewery-focused trip this summer from Portland, ME to Burlington, VT.

Breweries we'll hit:

Maine: Allagash, Bissell Brothers, Foundation, Oxbow, Maine Beer Co.
Vermont: Hill Farmstead, Fiddlehead, Switchback, Alchemist (no taproom or retail, but we'll stop anyways)

Plus we'll be in Burlington for back-to-back festivals - the Vermont Brewer's Festival (with Lawson's and so many others), and the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival, which Alchemost is actually sponsoring. We have our tickets for both - the brewer's festival was a hotly contested lottery. Psyched we squeaked in.

I'm going to be buy at least four cases of beer - I've got my Heady stop all planned out, and hope to bring back a bunch of Bissell Brothers' The Substance and Baby Genius, Foundation Epiphany, whatever bottles I can get at Hill Farmstead and whatever Second Fiddle I can find at Fiddlehead.

It's going to be glorious. My wife is the best to not just put up with this, but gets excited planning it with me.

I can't stress enough how great it is to have a spouse who shares your passion for craft beer.

My wife drove me home after I got shitfaced and stupid at the Philly beer festival last year. Ah....true love.

Sounds like a tremendous trip slosh. Raise one for me.

Check out Prohibition Pig in Waterbury and Parker Pie in West Glover, both will typically have Hill Farmstead stuff on tap.

Yea, we're planning to hit the Waterbury Reservoir over Prohibition Pig. Both likely to have great beers, and since the lady doesn't dig on swine (or beef or lamb), I'm opting for the more vegetarian friendly. But yea, we'll be eating like champs this whole trip.

Probably won't get as far north as West Glover. We'll be staying over night in St. Johnsbury and hitting Kingdom Tap Room. The trip over the White Mountains will take us to Flume Gorge, which is probably the thing I'm most excited about for this trip.

Sounds great! I'd almost want to take a little notebook, or else all those brews would blur together for me.

so Sunday is the 240th birthday of the Army and a local bar is tapping some pretty awesome kegs and all active military and vets drink and eat free. They're tapping Columbus Bodhi, Pizza Boy West Shore, Columbus Thunderlips and Voodoo Cowbell and a few they haven't announced yet. I think I'll have to stop by for this one.

I recall learning about Maui Brewing on Drinking Made Easy. There is also a vodka out there made from pineapples.

I liked a lot of the beers in Kona Brewing's lineup. There was a grocery store in Montana that sometimes carried them, which was pretty cool.

Anybody else watch Zane Lamphrey's stuff? Three Sheets and Drinking Made Easy were pretty great.

Yeah kona is awesome. Their brewery in kona is a good spot for a few beers and quick food. I forget the name of the place, but there is a brewpub near the pier/dock area of Honolulu that good beers, specifically their ipa and out of this world ahi poke. Oh yeah another must hit spot and again I don't remember the name but it's right beside the Ferrari/ mazaretti dealership and has the best sushi I've had outside of japan. If it opens at 5, be there at 4:55 because you won't get seared. Pony up to the sushi bar, give them a pile if cash and tell them to make whatever they want. One of the top 5 meals if my life, I'll try to look back and find the name

Only thing worth a damn here is Four Peaks. I'm a kilt lifter fan but they have a few good ones

I looked it up. It's closer to the conference center than my hotel so might be a lunch destination one of the conference days. Just had lunch at a tappen/sushi place. The sushi was great.

As for beer, I was never impressed with kona. I just picked up a 22nd of an ipa from big island at the abc store. Plus a ballast point big fish 22nd for $6. They're in my room fridge.

Importantly, I discovered that Yard's world of beers is a block from my hotel. And I just realized the Stanley Cup is on now so I might walk over there.

Beer dudes, the Whole Foods in Wexford has single bottles of Angel's Share for sale for $15.99 per bottle (looks to be 12 oz size). Is it that tasty? I'd spend the money if it is but I didn't want to roll the dice when I was up there.

FYI, I saw that my local Giant Eagle had Angels Share marked down to $9.99 today.
