In the show (not the books, I don't want any spoilers) do WE know who has Theon and why he's being tortured? Last I can recall he was giving his speech to rally his men to defend Winterfell to the their deaths, and his Lieutenant hit knocked him out. Are we being kept in the dark as much as Theon is about how he got where he is?

Similar question. Again, in the show to this point only, do we know for sure that Theon and his men massacred everyone at Winterfell, or is this just the only information we have on who did this?

They burned Winterfell at the end of last season

They did show them killing people at Winterfell, right before he gave his speech to rally his men. Remember he burned the two farmers' boys to try to convince people he killed Bran and Rickon.

Great, thanks. Is that what happened to the farmers boys? I thought someone burned them to try and make Theon think they were Bran and Rickon. I guess they aren't out looking for them anymore because they couldn't spare the man power. Also, I thought the farm where the burning occurred was out in the country side away from Winterfell.

edit: Just read what I quoted again. I got you now. Theon was the one trying to convince everyone that Bran and Rickon were killed. Thanks again.

I'm still trying to figure this out, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the peasant saying that he saw Jaime Lannister fight in a tourney at Sir Willem Frey's wedding. I don't know what that means though in the scope of things.

I don't think that's it. He was just saying how it was that he recognized who Jamie was when he saw him with Brienne . . . having seen him fight in a tourney before.

Yeah I have no idea what the recapper is talking about there. If there was a spoiler foreshadowing something, I completely missed it.

Maybe the leader of the men who captured them ends up getting his head cut off by either Tywinn Lanister or Rob (aka the King of the North)

I have one episode left in season 2 so hope to be caught up soon. I read the books so it's not like I get exposed to spoilers looking in this thread. I'm still continually surprised with how well cast the actors/actresses are compared to how I envisioned them in the books. The series still can't touch the books for depth of characters but it's doing a pretty good job and the omissions/changes aren't that bad.

Some random things. I like how the show is advancing the Theon storyline. Theon basically disappears for books 3 and 4 and it seems like they're going to show things that were alluded to in book 5 in which, IMO, Theon has the most interesting storyline.

When the Night's Watch was at Crasters keep, I thought Craster and Lord Commander Mormont mentioned Mormont having a son. I don't think the show has ever pointed out that The Lord Commander is/was Jorah's father. Not a huge deal really though.

The end of last night's show exemplifies why this is the best show on tv. Daenarys Targaryen in your moms pants.

I've read all the books but ive been thinking about watching this. Is it good or is it just "good by fantasy standards"?

The guys on my Texas board that have read the books are pretty impressed by the show. Its well done. It appears to follow the books fairly closely, including sometimes line by line.

Yeah, I've got to echo that. There are minor changes here and there but what's nice is that Martin is consulting with the show so maybe the changes are something he wanted but couldn't do since he had already written the books. Anyway, the sets, the costuming, everything is well done but it's the actors that really bring it to another level.

I read all the books other than the newest prior to the series. I have since read the newest. I think the show is outstanding. There are definitely some things I disagree with (Tyrion is not nearly deformed enough, doesn't lose enough of his nose, etc.) but even so it is overall extremely true to the books. They have not been pulling many punches on the gruesome parts, which makes me excited for what is forthcoming...Anyway, I definitely recommend it. Even knowing what is going to happen doesn't ruin it.

Even though I haven't watched any of it yet I've been patiently waiting for certain events to air. I may just wait until the entire series is collected - 15 years from now? That's if I'm lucky.

There is no way Martin will ever stay ahead of his own novels at this rate. He's slowed to a glacier pace and I'm afraid he's gonna have a heart-attack before he finishes the series and then Brandon Sanderson is going to be called in to wrap everything up.

I don't remember from the books that the female Tyrells were this strong but they really wrote Olenna Tyrell very well (and the actress does a great job).

I got this far:

Quote

HODOR — Rob Gronkowski, Patriots: Could you imagine if Gronkowski had a press conference and just said, “Hodor, Hodor, Hodor” every time someone asked him a question? It would be the greatest YouTube moment in sports. Just a big, lovable galoof is what Hodor is, and you could make a serious argument that’s exactly what Gronk is, only with more alcohol. Now if we can just get GOT’s writers to work in “Yo Soy Fiesta” as a battle cry.

awesome, but let's add the pictures:
