You only take the people you absolutely know will be perfect in every way on a trip to the Outer Banks. We have gone more or less there for 16 years now with up to 6 other families. We are now down to 3 friends and their families to avoid any and all headaches.

Traveling with people tells you a hell of a lot.
Get it?

It sure does. We went on vacation with some of closest friends. By the third day, my wife and I were like "who the hell are these people?". We are still friends but the relationship has never been the same as it was pre-vacation.
Utah, get me two.

So I put a friend of a friend in touch with my brother at work, helped him get a job. I guess he came in the other day demanding a raise or he wasn't going to do any work. No warning, nothing that I know of preceding it. He just came in pissed off and demanded a raise. Then left. Then told the other guy he works with in the warehouse that were cheap assholes and the only way he'd come back is if we gave him a $2 raise and didn't have him on any 90 probationary time. I'm mostly confused. Like he's got nothing to back this tough talk up with. He's not holding any cards. So long story short, we have a forklift opening if anyone is interested.

I thought for sure you'd be following the Caitlin Jenner story. Or, well, I guess you can't with your father-in-law hogging the fucking TV.

hir51 does red-carpet fashion reviews.

He knows who Caitlyn Jenner is.

And who made that dress.

My father in law has ruined my vacation.
When my wife told me she wanted us to take him, I thought no big deal. He's a loner; hell pretty much be self-sufficient.

Well, he's bossed my wife around so much that I've had two conversations with him telling him enough is enough. I've paid s pretty penny for this vacation. He was insistent on helping which I not only wanted, I expected. He has given us $300. We're renting a house in the outer banks and have eaten out every day/night. $300 isn't close to ten percent of what my wife and I have spent.

He brought th biggest suitcase of anyone and it took up a lot of our storage space. And has worn 3 outfits total. He hasn't showered in two days. Today I had to tell him he's getting s bit ripe; he looked at me cluelessly.

My wife gave him the biggest bedroom but he hasn't taken his ass off the couch. I'm ready to kill him

That's what happens when you don't take v2 with you on vacation.

But this thread is teaching us that you end up hating the people you go on vacation with. Why do you want racial harmony to fail?

My sister-in-law is welcome and that's it. Vacation is immediate family time. I don't want anyone else disrupting it.

I always loved beach vacations because I got to see my cousins. I don't think I would've liked it much as a kid to just go with my parents and brother.

When I was kid, I was the same way. Now, especially as a parent, having other adults on vacation with you is usually a pain in the ass. If the other adults have kids, the pain in the ass factor rises exponentially with each kid.

Last year, we took our son's best friend to Disney. He too was a pain in the ass. He bitched about the heat. He bitched that when the rides were too fast. He bitched when The rides were too slow. He bitched about every restaurant. The only thing he wanted to do was stay in the room and watch TV.

We are the opposite. We went to Virginia beach this year by ourselves. It was fun and all but going with the right people is a lot better to us. We still spend a day or two just as a family but it's nice now with our twins being at the age where when they are with the right friends it's all day baby sitting with zero issues. It's a win-win for us.

We obviously haven't made the right friends. I'm glad it works for you.

Gawker media outing some guy for hiring a male escort. I don't understand what purpose the article served other than to try to ruin some random guy's life. It had no legitimate news angle that I could see. I would link it but I don't want to give them any traffic.

This has been bugging me for awhile now. Not sitting down when you shit. Now, I don't know when someone is sitting down or not but I do know that numerous times recently I've gone to the toilet at work and there's traces of shit on the back of the seat. How the fuck do you shit on the seat? The only way I can think of is that some asshole is not sitting on the toilet. As AJ says Sit the fuck down! You're not going to get aids, autism, ebola or anything else from sitting on a public toilet.
You're pretty on the inside,
That's better than not pretty at all,
You're pretty on the inside,
Too bad I'm an outside kinda pretty guy.

For people from most of Asia, it is not normal to sit on the toilet, and only in upper-class places do you really even stand a chance of finding a toilet with a seat on it. I went to a mall in Surabaya, and there were actually signs on the outside of stalls with seated toilets indicating that one is not supposed to stand with his feet on the seat and squat to take a shit. Maybe the stalls at work would benefit from a sign like that?

They say squatting is better for your intestines, but I'll never know, because it's basically impossible when you're missing half the cartilage in your knees.

Plus doesn't every place in the world have those little wax paper things to cover the seat?

No. In parts of Europe, you can get wax paper TP. That is definitely a reason not to shit.

yeah, the first time I saw a traditional "toilet" in Japan, I thought what the fuck is that?

And the squatting is supposed to be better... of course you have to above the hole in the ground. The US toilets are not designed for that. I guess that's the reason they needed the sign at that mall.

There is a handwritten "sign" above the toilet in one of the bathrooms that says If you can read this you should be using the urinal.

To be on the safe side, you may want to put a sign over the sink too.
