Yes, it is insane. But that is also the Pittsburgh Pirates for you: always caught in some nebulous area between rebuilding and contending, so they wind up being good at neither.

This thread is pretty good! Quick - let's all add nothing to it and concentrate instead on the 2025 season thread.

If they wand a second baseman who sucks at everything on the roster, why waive Hanson? At least he's young and fast.

ok, apparently it's Gosselin to the taxi squad. Really, that's where be belongs: DRIVING a taxi, and far away from any professional baseball field.

Yep. And Gosselin is a ZERO tool guy which is apparent to everybody except the BMTIS. They not only lose the investment they made in Hansons development time, they were better off with Gift on the bench as a defensive replacement. And guaranteed none of the GUTLESS COWARDS in the Pittsburgh media will ask the Pirates to explain the move.
"We’ll be comfortable adding one (starter),” he said. “We’ll be comfortable adding nobody if it’s just not there. We don’t feel we are driven to force it. If we can add one that makes sense for us, that’s great. If we can add two that make sense … then we do that.”
Opie Taylor. In a decisive moment.

They've been kneeling down and sucking the managers cock now, for as long as he's been here. Each and every one of them, no exceptions.

I hate that we're back to debating the likes of Hanson vs. Gosselin. It is like 2001 again. This franchise sucks.

That is both a depressing thought and an entirely accurate and fitting one.

After a nice run, Cole is back to being the #4 or #5 starter that he really would be on a contending team.

Dude's FIP is 4.40. Yeah, he can put together a few nice starts but he is the most universally and irrationally overhyped Pirate that I can remember.

SIX RBI night for Elias Diaz. Why is he the AAA catcher?

Now his ERA is up there, too. 4.27

Triumphant return for Phil the Jagoff Gosselin. Took him 4 pitches to be called out on strikes.

Look at the bright side. He could have done it in three.

Yep. He's improved. Hope they send him down to the minors three more times. Either he'll be able to draw a walk or, best case scenario, the season will be over.

Because two other catchers ahead of him have guaranteed contracts.

Diaz should consider himself lucky if he has a career like Chris Stewart. Let's slow our roll a bit here on Diaz.
