I couldn't find the TV thread so I took this thread. It started slow but I really enjoyed "Fargo" this season.

I just finished season 2 of Fargo. No S3 spoilers, please.

I watched Logan last night with zero expectations considering how awful I found Wolverine Origins and The Wolverine (which I couldn't even finish) to be. I also haven't really liked an X Men movie since First Class. I really like McAvoy and Fassbender as Xavier and Magneto but I've been very annoyed by the over-emphasis of Mystique and the character's elevation to a major role all due to Jennifer Lawrence's becoming A-list.

Anyway, Logan is at least a toss up with X2 as the best movie in the X-Men universe. Highly recommended.

I got to see Logan on my flight. I agree. So little expectations and yet so much better than a bunch of the recent X-men crap.

Also, I saw the movie Gifted. I thought it was really excellent. Way on the "chick flick" side of things, but really good.

Baby Driver is pretty amazing. There's a reason they compare it to Road Warrior: Fury Road.

I heard Michael Keaton was really good. What did you like most about it? Could I wait until it comes out on Blueray or does it benefit from seeing in the theatre?

Keaton is excellent. Unless you have a home theater, see it on the big screen. 3D/IMAX isn't necessary.

Last week my wife and I attended a screening of the upcoming Charlize Theron vehicle ATOMIC BLONDE, directed by David Leitch who got gypped out of credit for his co-direction of JOHN WICK. We didn't know much going in other than that it was a noir spy thriller taking place in 1989 Berlin just ahead of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I'm always a little nervous to see so many producers credited in the front end, with Theron also credited as a producer. With so many investors, could the director's vision be fully realized?

The answer? Mostly.

The film is told as a frame story, narrated as Theron's Agent Lorraine Broughton is interrogated by her M6 supervisor (Toby Jones) and a visitor from the CIA (John Goodman).

This is a film with a number of twists and turns, and I would be doing everyone a disservice to give too much away. Agent Broughton has recently returned from a job in Berlin where her contact was embedded station chief David Perceival (James McAvoy). Suffice it to say, things didn't go exactly according to plan.

I wasn't entirely digging the first hour of the film, which was a layered spy drama that seemed a little too on-point for my taste. I love a good stylized spy thriller, but the plot was running a bit too clunky. My wife and I both checked our watches a few times. A racy lesbian scene was a nice diversion, but it was all a bit ho-hum.

Somewhere around the end of hour one, just as I was ready to check out, the most insane fight scenes I've ever seen on film brought me way back in to the film. The fight choreography was insane, and was followed up by a very cool chase scene. Despite the slow start, I was very much back invested in the narrative.

The rest of the movie was a roller coaster, and I found myself clapping when it was all over. I feel like they could tighten up the first hour a bit, but overall it was a fun movie. And Charlize Theron was a bad ass.

I saw that and didn't get the ratings. It was good but not 90% good

I loved Fury Road. But this one just felt like every other bank robber movie(not a spoiler, there's a bank robbery in the opening scene). It felt really Fast And Furious.

I've never seen the 2 modern Planet of the Apes movies, but I decided to see the new one anyway.

Wow!

What a really freaky awesome movie. You are watching real apes riding real horses, and wondering what kind of drugs you must of taken.

If you like any kind of WW II movie like the Dirty Dozen, you will like this.

See it!

Saw Dunkirk. Liked it, even if it was confusing to follow. For me the spitfire pilots made the movie.
I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many posting errors.

I always turn to the sports pages first, which records people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures.

thought it was great. Tells the story visually, it could be a silent movie and you would know what is going on. Felt like you were there rather than watching a movie.

Addition: I want to see it in IMAX.

People of Earth restarts this week, and I'm really looking forward to Season 2. Season 1 was fantastic.
