Well we will find out then soon enough. I'm good with the Flower going, and I'm good with the Flower staying. I'm not a salary cap expert so I say this in ignorance. Marc-Andre appears to be a good guy, but I don't know the man and for all I know he's the second coming of the Marquis De Sade, so there's that, also.

I think we find out who every team protected on Sunday. Vegas is also allowed to start talking to FAs next week I believe.

I thought DJF said a couple of months ago that teams do not have to publicize who they protect and whom they don't?

The Rangers are buying out Dan Girardi's contract.

What's your take on what the Pens could/should try to do with UFAs like Bonino and Daley? Are there other potential UFAs you could see them taking a shot at? Looks like a 2nd pair D and a bottom 6 C would be the priorities internally or otherwise. Afterwards, depth signings...

Bonino would be a definite resign, but from what I read, other teams may easily be willing to go higher than the Pens limited cap space will allow.

I friggin' love Trevor Daley, but I would be surprised if e is re-signed, unless he's willing to sign for a lot less. Next to Maatta, I think I considered him the Pens' 2nd biggest defensive liability during the playoffs, and the Pens do not have a good history re-singing blueliners in this age-range.

Somebody is going to overpay Bonino. Best to let someone else do it.

Sundqvist an option or more for the 4th line? Rowney seems like a 4th line center too. As Grey said, 3rd line center and a defenseman or two seem to be the needs. Sprong would give them plenty of wingers, so maybe they can move one or two to fill that spot. Pouliot is clearly not in the plans, but I guess Frank Corrado could be the 6th guy?

Sheesh. According to you guys we're losing like 8 players. I sure hope Rutherford can replace them.

I don't think the Pens have to lose all of them, but for the Penguins, it's not just a matter of, "Do you want Bonino/Daley/etc back?", it's more "Do you want them back...at the cost that the open market will dictate?"

Part of it isn't a bad thing either, because it will open up spots for guys like...

RW Daniel Sprong
C Oskar Sundqvist
C Zach Aston-Reese
D Lukas Bengtsson
G Tristan Jarry

Everyone focuses on Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang, Murray, etc., but a big part of staying competitive is a steady infusion of youth from the AHL. Focus on your core, and don't overpay for guys on the periphery. Use some of those spots to work in younger players to prolong your dynasty.
