Murray is the better goalie. I really don't think that is something worth debating. That said, I have nothing but admiration for Fleury. He has handled the demotion to Murray as well as anyone could possibly ask. I have never heard anything from him or about him that indicates he has been anything other than a perfect teammate. He seems like an absolutely incredible person and I am thankful that he has kept himself ready to play. We are incredibly lucky to have him. He basically outplayed Bobrovsky, who is a Vezina candidate. Hats off to Fleury. He is really easy to be happy for.

Letang or no Letang, the Pens just completely dismantled one of the better teams in hockey this year.

They have to be considered a Stanley Cup favorite heading forward, if they weren't already. Great nail-in-the-coffin type of effort that is indicative of an elite team.

The defense without Letang is a huge concern. Columbus was a good matchup for them without him because they don't really have a particularly fast team or a particularly skilled team. Washington's forecheck or Toronto's speed will be a big problem. Holtbylikely won't be as bad as Bobrovsky was in this series, either.

The good thing is if the Penguins get Hagelin back their forwards are going to be as good as anyone.

Bobrovsky is also an abysmal playoff goalie.

#1 seed in the West the Blackhawks were swept by the #8 seed the Predators. I thought the Blackhawks had elite leadership on that team. Thus they are better then that.
Jose Tabata, Pedro Alvarez, and Andrew McCutchen are the new Jason Kendall, Brian Giles, and Kevin Young (in his prime) players that are good, but surrounded by crap which will make them losers.
Who needs a good team on the field when you have fireworks and bobbleheads!

People always claim that the NHL playoff field is "watered down" because they take so many teams, relative to the size of the league. But I love it.

I can't think of another sport where the 8th best team in a conference could not only beat- but sweep- the best team in a conference. Long live the NHL.

and yet people cry about the divisional structure of the playoffs because three teams with the best regular season records might have to play each other in the first couple rounds.
You're pretty on the inside,
That's better than not pretty at all,
You're pretty on the inside,
Too bad I'm an outside kinda pretty guy.

I dont know about sweep but I'm pretty sure an 8 has beaten a 1 in the NBA playoffs.

Quick look back, in 2012 Philly (8) beat Chicago (1) 4 games to 2. Happened in 2011 too when Memphis beat San Antonio.

In 1999 the 8 seed Knicks made the finals.

The 8 see Bulls are halfway to a sweep of the 1 seed Celtics.

True. On their way to the Finals the 8 seed Knicks did sweep Atlanta in round 2.

Lord no! I keep hoping the Leafs can pull that series out of their ass, but after tonight, chances are slim.

The Caps have been the best team in the league this year. We need some help to get out of the East. We must have the toughest path the to the Cup.

Teams in the West must be licking their chops with Chicago out.

Derek Rose also tore his ACL in Game 1 of that series, and was done for the year.

Don't get me wrong- props for figuring that out, as even I'd forgotten about it- but few teams are going to succeed after losing their best player.

It's still stupid though, Oblong. It is.

The 2nd-seeded Pens just had to face the 3rd best team in the Conference in Columbus, and are on the verge of facing the top team in the conference in the Capitals, all within the first 2 rounds.

That's fucking dumb, no matter how you look at it.

The NHL playoff system is abysmal. This is correct. Where else can you find the league's 2nd and 3rd teams meeting in the first round, and then the league 2nd and 1st teams meeting in the quarterfinals?
