  2. 2016-17 Fantasy Football

    06 September 2016 - 11:09 AM

Its that time again. Rather than fill up the real Football thread once we have one, here's one for fantasy football.

    *************

My league this year lost 2 teams so were at a much more common 12 team league. Sure did feel like there was a hell of a lot more talent available. I had the #2 pick and was trying to decide between Julio Jones and Odell Beckham but then the #1 pick went to Aaron Rodgers so I lucked into AB.

    So here's my team (start: 1 QB, 1 RB, 2WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 DT, 1 PK):
    QB: Brady / Taylor
RB: CJ Anderson / Gio Bernard, Spencer Ware
WR: A Brown, Mike Evans/ Michael Floyd, Willie Snead, Tavon Austin
    TE: Greg Olsen /Jared Cook
    FLEX: (best of subs)
    DT: Steelers
    PK: Dan Bailey

I think my biggest shock was that Taylor was available in the tenth round at pick #119. I was worried I'd be stuck with something like Dak or Bradford as a Brady fill-in. My RBs are weak. I need a bounce back season from CJ Anderson. On the optimistic side I think Bernard is going to end up the starter in Cincy and I expect Jamaal Charles to have his injury linger/return so Spencer Ware might be a starter more than expected.

Usually I subscribe to fantasyguru.com for about $30 a season, this was the first time I decided to see if I can go without it. So far I think I ended up with a decent team without it.

So to move from the game thread. Here's the original story:

Since v2Burghboi didn't put up a thread yet...

Also let me know if I should add to the poll other players (not sure if that's even possible)
  5. 2015-16 TV season thread

    12 October 2015 - 10:18 AM

Is it time? I think it's time!

I was surprised there were no posts in the TV thread after the premier of the Walking Dead last night but I guess everyone was just waiting for a new thread. And actually this is a little late since some shows are a couple episodes in.

So to get read for the new Walking Dead I got caught up on Fear the Walking Dead (although really it was just coincidence since I no longer have baseball to watch). My first comment on episodes 3 to 5 is that I am definitely rooting for the zombies. I want all those pieces of shit to die, slowly and horribly. The only character I could sort of stand was the ex-wife. The last episode got quite a bit better. At least the El Slvadorian guy is interesting now but really the guy I like is Strand (or Storm or whatever his name is.. you know, the black guy). I hope he gets a big role in the season. Too bad they didn't take the doctor and the tortured solder with them. They were at least as interesting as the other characters.

O.K. on to the Walking Dead.

Really good start. You can see they've upped the budget quite a bit with the scale of Zombie Hoard. I really like the use of B&W. The CGI on the valley was pretty great too. Looks like the early part of the season is going to be high energy action.
