Good fucking riddance.

Despite ratings success that have made it one of the region’s most listened-to radio stations, major changes are due to be announced at all-sports talk The Fan (KDKA-FM, 93.7).

According to an industry source, Paul Alexander is out as part of 'The Fan Morning Show’ (6 to 10 a.m.) and Vinnie Richichi is out as part of 'Vinnie and Cook’ (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

The changes are effective immediately.

Alexander is the most shocking of the two dismissals. Richichi long had been rumored to be in trouble with station management.

I listen to the station incessantly because the CD player in my car is broke and I can't get 970 ESPN. Both obviously were awful at their jobs and the station SHOULD be better for it.

I may actually listen to that station now. Alexander is the biggest, least knowledgeable douche on radio this side of Madden, and Vinnie was just a bad fit for this market.

Vinnie was better than Alexander. I wonder who they'll get to insult callers from 6-10?

They are replacing their entire drive time broadcast with something called CIA Radio, featuring a rotation of 25 hosts. CIA Radio will focus mostly on Pittsburgh sports, with a smattering of boobery and a sprinkle of Dolphins talk. The lead topic each morning will be known as The Discussion You All Seem To Think We Need and will be the most important question on the radio right now. Sounds awesome.

This is actually great news. Alexander is the worst sports guy in the city, after John Steigerwald, and was a complete bafoon on that show. Vinnie is just a pair of clown shoes that needed to find a new home.

Go Fan!
Utah, get me two.

I don't live in Pittsburgh but I knew Alexander from before he arrived in the market. Typical TV guy. Surface-level, salesman type of nice but about as knowledgeable and deep as a piece of cardboard.

Still don't like to see anyone lose their job, though.

My buddy that used to work there is surprised by the Vinnie news but not so much Alexander. He said Vinnie was one of the more popular hosts they had

Can we talk about the other places we spend time?
"The business of baseball is to make money, not break even. I don't understand why you think the Pirates should run their team like a charity." - Willlton 6/18/2009

"The Bay trade doesn't look like it (a slam dunk winner), but if you take into account the fact that all they lost was eight months of Jason Bay's services, as well as the fact that even the Red Sox look like they won't be able to re-sign him, it's not nearly the loser many people seem to think." - tWTM 11/26/2009

"Morton is finding himself, now while this may sound weird and out there, but the fact he put on a solo concert at Piratefest shows he finally has the confidence that he lacked within himself that he didn't have in the lower minors." - aso513 2/8/2010

"Dave Littlefield vindicated." - Xiga 4/30/2011 after one scoreless inning of relief by Daniel Moskos.

"Hanrahan and Cedeno would be a gross overpayment for Belt. Sorry, but I'll stick with my realistic analysis of the market and the teams involved." - Steve Zielinski 5/25/2011

"He (Barmes) could have a .000 Batting Average and still be an asset." - bradlej31 5/28/2012

"The last time the Pirates won an extra-inning game in St. Louis that lasted at least 16 frames was April 20, 1986 at Chicago." - Kristy Robinson 8/19/2012

"I want to tweet something clever and interesting to you that will earn your respect and make you smile, since you do that to me all the time." - jpbucco to Colin Dunlap 4/12/2016

"If the Pirates had acquired Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins, I’m not sure they would have “won” the Benedict trade." - David Todd 11/11/2015

I've had more than a few professional encounters with Alexander.

Smug, arrogant, douche. It's no act.

Yes. But only at the top of each hour. We'll need to make room for Debbie Downer's overly critical movie reviews and V2's bathroom report.
