The window for the pirates is closed. Realistically they probably would be better off gutting the team right now and setting their sights on 2021 because there isn't a chance they are winning the central anytime soon with the roster the cubs have.

That's defeatist bullshit. We have no idea if we'll ever have even this much talent under contract again. We are much closer to being competitive than ever during the 1994-2010 run of awful. To punt because the Cubs are good? That's a shitty perspective.

Quintana helps this team go back to being a 90+ win team. His upgrade over Nova as a #3 has a domino effect, with Nova as #4 a huge upgrade over Kuhl, and Kuhl's a significant upgrade over whoever they were considering for #5.

Cole, Taillon and Quintana could be a top-three top of the rotation. And the offense has been a top-5 for the last five years.

I disagree. This team is not a contender, especially without Kang. Quintana isn't going to change that.

If this were last spring or two years ago...then, yes, make that trade. Not now though.

You know, they'd have Quintana for more than this coming season, right?

Pirates GM Neal Huntington “should do [the trade] today,” Zeise writes, if Chicago would accept Glasnow, Keller and Josh Bell.

    I completely agree.

The Pirates are not Jose Quintana away from being a legitimate contender. So why trade your top prospects for him?

I would suggest they are. Battling for a wild card anyway.

It isn't just about what he does, but how he improves the #5 starter as well. Swing of maybe 8-10 games.

While Chuck was on the air, I got sick of old ladies asking me if I knew how much I reminded them of "the guy from Chuck." Kids always ask me if I'm Batman but the Chuck one got on my nerves. My wife and I decided to watch it and it is one of maybe 5 series we've watched in the last ten years. We don't watch much. It wasn't a great series, but that fucker Levi is so damned charming that we watched every episode, and Adam Baldwin is always fun. Zach is actually a really good dude, too, and easy to like. I'm biased because he's open about his faith, which I respect, but he's a super guy.

    No homo?
