The question is, can he duck a quarter?

It does look like he put together a claaic Dixon OOC schedule and duck just about anyone he could, though

I'm interested to see what shit the fans give him and the subsequent befuddled look on his players' faces having no clue what is happening.

Yeah. But this loss was predictable. Dixon's offense just killed Syracuse's zone. The way they play under Stallings is exactly what the Syracuse zone is designed to defeat. When Pitt's zone buster player that would be in the top of the key is at point guard they're relying on v hitting all their shots and that just want going to happen.

So Baylor is now #1. And they are a 6-point underdog in Morgantown tomorrow night.

I thought Jeter was the zone buster last year?

That move to the ACC has been great.

Yeah it wasn't the move to the ACC. The ACC is wide open this year. Dixon's Pitt teams chould have played with them. The recruiting glut, the new system and playing basically 4 guys and 2 bench players isn't enough. Take away one of Artis or Young (injured today) and it's no go.

Dixon was what he was: a good to great regular season coach.

There's certainly a place for that- and I wouldn't have minded seeing him stay- but it also got to the point where you knew Pitt had reached its apex with him, and wasn't going any further.

I think the biggest problem wasn't letting Dixon go, it was hiring a guy in Kevin Stallings that seemed like pretty much a dud of a hire as soon as it was made. I don't even follow college basketball that closely, and I was completely unimpressed with that selection.

Firing a great regular-season coach makes sense in two scenarios. The first is if you think you have a chance to hire a good or great tournament coach. The second is if you hire a young, up-and-coming guy who seems to have the potential to be a championship coach.

Firing a great regular-season coach to hire a guy who is 56 and had a losing conference record at his last stop is just stupid. Stallings is going to destroy that program. Or get fired quick.

Exactly. Well said.

You'd think since Dixon cared about the program, Pitt would've been like, "Hey, can you give us a list of guys you think would really keep going what you built here on your way out?"

Maybe TLC or Crim can give their 2c, but I have no friggin' clue why they hired the guy that they did.

1. I didn't like the Stallings hire.

2. This roster is the mess it currently is because Dixon was a terrible recruiter.

3. I'd like to see any coach in the country succeed with this remaining Pitt team now that Mike Young has a broken face and Ryan Luther is out for 6 weeks.

I will say I was willing to reserve judgement about the Stallings hire but it sure seems like everyday I hate it more.

I was disgusted as I read all his quotes in today's PG. Lack of buy in has been 'frustrating' for Pitt coach Kevin Stallings. Is this supposed to be a Michael Therrien style rant? Because it misses. He basically kicks all the players under the bus. First he starts with saying critiquing their lack of defense. Then he complains about the senior leadership, well lack thereof. He says the older players are at fault for the younger players not coming around? What the hell is his role? He seems to have no connection at all with this team. Hell, if anything you might expect he would be working with the younger players to connect with them. Here we see that apparently it is the opposite. He wants the older players to teach the younger players?!

There was something that stood out at one of the Pitt football games when they brought the basketball team out on to the field. Stallings came out, said some generic 'we'll play hard' rah rah stuff, then left the field as the players were waving to the crowd. He walked completely away from the rest of the team. Didn't say a word to any of them.

Maybe his strategy is to let them all go and bring in some set of 5 superstar one and done freshman. But this is Pitt so I highly doubt that will happen. And they're stuck with this guy. Maybe the new AD will come in and get rid of this chode.
