I'll agree they are/were similar in they both bounced around a bunch and that the minors may also be the fate of Cust, but they are completely different hitters. To say they are one and the same only show one doesn't know enough about the game of baseball to see the difference.

In 807 major league ABs, Shelton's line (.281/.348/.477) would instantly make him one of the better hitters on our team. Infact, he'd probobly be a more productive 1B than LaRoche has been (and I like LaRoche) for Pittsburgh, and certainly a more productive 1B than Casey has been in Detroit. And then fell off the planet 2 weeks later. We will see what happens. For the record, I never said his OPS would fall below .600. That'd be pretty much impossible given the 8 home runs in like a week and a half. I did say it'd be below .800 in two weeks. Two weeks may be a bit soon considering his last few plate appearances against the St. Louis "pitchers," but i'm still pretty sure it'll get there soon.
