If you recall the video that DJF posted of the PSU fraternity house tossing beer and throwing drinks at the two Ohio State fans walking by.

At the end you see a guy run up and throw the beer on him....

In the CDT this morning, the guy has been identified and will be charged, the kicker is....

The guy charged is a friggin PITT student

I just laughed when I saw that

I agree. While I don't condone violence, these fans that travel into other college towns and cities with their colors flying- especially of their biggest rivals- are just asking for trouble.

I'm more a PITT fan than I am a PSU guy, but when I was visiting my buddy up in State College a few weeks back, I saw this SUV passing through with Wisconsin flags all over it. I pulled out in front of the guy, slowed way down, and gave him the finger out the window, simply because I thought it was disrespectful to do.

And then to not only wear the colors, but walk by a frat house AFTER the home team has just been pasted on national television? Those people are actually lucky they weren't beaten to a pulp.

If I were the judge, I would fine them as well for taunting.

I'm a die hard Penn State fan but to even try to excuse what they did is absurd. Its every fan's right to go to away games. Look at all the Steeler fans that show up to away games, none of them get pettled.

I'll boo an away fan with the rest of them but its crossing the line to start pelting them with beer cans. I was painted up in Michigan for the game 3 years ago and didn't come close to that kind of treatment.

Also, this didn't happen AFTER the game, it was clearly BEFORE the game so your rationale doesn't hold true, but even if it was after, it wouldn't be a rationale.

That said, its defintely not all the fan base that acts like this, maybe just half. And that's the half that's from Philly.

WiH,

I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed for you. Apparently, you DO condone violence in whatever form it may take....

I am a Michigan Wolverines fan and took my brother (big PSU fan) to see the 27-24 overtime thriller in Ann Arbor. What a great game. When it was over, I did not gloat. I did not scream. I knew my brother was feeling badly.

As we passed outside the stadium, some other arrogant and classless Wolverine fans were taunting some PSU fans in front of us. I yelled at the Wolverine fan and told him to exercise some class.

As far as I'm concerned, fans from any school or who support any team should have the right to cheer for their team in whatever venue they are playing. Your comments are disappointing.

In short, sir, you are as guilty as the moron who threw the beer on those fans...

I'll try to contain my sadness that a poster with all of 9 posts is disappointed in me.

I don't agree with fans being taunted right outside of a stadium, but when they allow their treck back to their cars to take them in front of a rival's frathouse (and it's fairly irrelevant whether it was before/after the game, as the frat guys were probably buzzed from the getgo that morning), they're asking for it.

It's just like how I don't condone gang violence, but if a Blood mosies into the darkest allies of Crypt territory while flashing his colors, I also don't feel bad for him when something happens.

The immediate stadium environment should be a sanctuary of safety for all fans in attendance, regardless of team support. But beyond that, it is up to the discretion of the fans to park in an area that minimizes conflict.

Yeah the biggest thing that struck me, other than the fact 50 people threw beer at these people. Is what the hell are they doing in the back yard of a PSU fraternity house? If they were with PSU fans I would understand, but I was really confused as to how they got there.

This is the worst part of the story. There is a very good reason they were outside of the PIKA fraternity house.

They were from PIKA at OSU. I'm not sure if they were actually staying at the house, but they had been hanging out with the PSU PIKA's the night before.

They were definitely invited guests.

Is this a caveat to the 2:00 AM rule?

I don't see any justification for physical violence just because your sports team is playing someone else's. You're essentially causing violence because of how another person looks..... yeah, there's no precedent of that in this country.

I'll try to contain my sadness that someone who lives on this board opposes my opinion.

What difference does simple right or wrong make when it comes to how many times someone posts on this board? Wait, I'll answer this one for you: None.

Um, right. And exactly how are fans that don't regularly hang out in "rival gang territory" supposed to know where to park when they travel there, say, once every two years? Try coming up to Ann Arbor and knowing where to park, moron. You can park at people's houses, on a golf course, in a parking lot, downtown, etc. etc. You cannot assume that the OSU fans knew they were parking in front of a fraternity house.

Again, these guys weren't walking back to their cars. I'll assume WiH that you are unfamiliar with the PSU campus, but this incident happened a good ways away from the actual stadium. Its a good 25-30 min walk. No one is parking there.

These guys were inside a private party, of which they were probably invited to.

And in response to the "2AM rule" someone brought up. I can see it happenin at 2AM and wouldn't have as much of a problem with it then becuase at 2AM on any college campus, shit breaks out. People start throwing beer cans at pretty much anyone.

This is a little different though.

Both my boys are in frats, which suprised me since my college didnt even have frats and my wife and I never talked about that to them, just college. I think being Greek or not is their choice, so I support them.

This weekend we will be going to Stillwater to watch Texas play OSU. I have a son at each. My wife is wearing bright orange, I will be wearing burnt. We will be in the OSU alumni side. I expect a little grief, but very little.

My OSU son will be having Texas kids stay at their PhiDelt house. My Texas son will be staying with some ATO guys. Isnt that what frats are all about?

And I am not jumping on Winter, I dont know what happened before the video started. Maybe the (other) OSU guys acted like jerks and started a fight. Maybe the PSU guys did. Whoever was at fault should get in some trouble, what they did was more dangerous than the typical verbal abuse.

Well Ok, I will jump on Winter, at noon, my place.

Well, the game started at 8:00 p.m., and it was obviously light when the video was shot, so it was probably BEFORE the game, so the PSU fans really have no right to claim they were being taunted after being defeated.

Not that it would be any excuse anyhow. It's a football rivalry . . . there's absolutely no reason to assault someone like that just for wearing their team's colors.

I'm having a hard time finding fault with the guys that were simply wearing their teams colors and walking where ever it was they were walking. You want to chant "FUCK OHIO," and tell them the BUckeyes fucking suck and Maurice Clarrett is the finest citizen to ever step foot in Columbus...that's cool. What those idiot frat boys did? Cowardly.

I never got the whole "I hate this person simply because the attend(ed) a rival school."

Seriously, how stupid are people when they think something like that actually matters even a little?

Harmless banter back and forth, cool. If someone's a dick about it, fine...that I can understand. Taunting and abusing someone ONLY because they attend or cheer for another school/team? It's just retarded.

The frat is on suspension by their International Office and by the University.

The person who ran up to the fan is also in the process of being charged. These guys were at a party there Friday night, but were told not to be there on Saturday for pre-game celebrations according to both newspapers I read.

Any chance the guy who screamed "THAT IS THE MOST AWESOME THING I'VE EVER SEEN!!!" gets charged for simply over exaggerating?

I watched the video once pretty quickly and without sound, what happened? Did they throw beer cans at the guys? Or did the guy get a beer spilled on him?

And who's getting charged with assualt, the throwers, the pourer or both?

They threw full cups and cans of beer at the two guys as they walked past, then one idiot (Pitt grad) ran up behind them and threw a beer on the second of the two guys.

Yes, only the Pitt grad is the idiot there, huh?

Seriously dude, They are all idiots, I already said I don't condone any of the idiocy that was done here. The one egregious act with the guy who ran up behind him was the Pitt Student.

You lack of reading comprehension having shitstained pair of scooby-doo panties.

Good lord. I didn't realize the douchebag police was on patrol during lunch-time.

I dont see the difference between throwing beer on someone and running up to them and throwing beer on them. But obviously it is such an egregious act, because you said so. They are all idiots, there is no need to point out anybody being one.

Lets see, in the video you see a large group of people throwing stuff....then a person running right up behind one of them to throw beer on the one guy. So out of the whole video if one thing stood out, what would it be?

I already said they are all idiots....

actually, throwing an object containing beer is more of an assualt than pouring beer on someone. In either case the guy's a shit head.

And really he isn't a very good Pitt student (or at least wouldn't have been from my era). The rule was that you root for Pitt and whoever is playing Penn State.

I've also had many a beer poured on me (several times at WVU) but really I never cared that much. Not really classy but you deal with it. Again, I'd be much more pissed if someone threw something at me from a distance rather than just poured it on me.

So first the guy was from Pittsburgh. Then he was a Pitt Student. Now he is a Pitt grad. Can someone clarify which one it is?

This is a perfect example of why Pitt fans need a reality check. They so love to rip Penn State fans and WVU fans (especially this asspony NYPirate and his vaunted Pitt degree he uses to wipe his ass with) as being out-of-control...Pitt students are no damned different. You get a large concentration of drunk college students anywhere you're going to have issues. The main reason Pitt doesn't have more incidents at its football games is that no one gives a shit and no one goes to the games...hence fewer opportunities for such behavior.

Bwahahahahahaha!

I love the fact that people are apparently so disgusted with my opinion in this thread.

This to me, is the problem with America in a nutshell. No one wants to take responsibility for their own actions anymore. It's always someone else's fault.

Should these frat boys have been punished? Yes.

But did these fans screw up by wearing their colors in some pretty hostile territory? Most definitely they did. Total lack of common sense.

You all act like these people didn't have a choice. Well, news flash: nothing prevented them from taking off their jerseys while walking through what just about anyone would recognize as a hostile situation.

People need to start making smart decisions on their own, rather than running to the first attorney they can find when they put themselves in a stupid situation due to a total lack of common sense.

I actually agree with dutchboy. A few years ago during the thursday night game against nebraska (PSU throttled nebraska) some douche wore a tommy frazier jersey in the psu student section. He had watter bottles and whatnot thrown at him for about 10 minutes before stadium officials came down, removed him for his own good and gave him a seat in the nebraska section.

Did he deserve to have stuff thrown at him. no. The people that got identified as throwing shit got their season tix revoked. I for one am glad they got their tickets taken away. If you're a fucking immateur douchebag, you don't deserve the chance to watch the game.

Should he have known better than to wear that in the PSU student section. yes, he was a fucking dolt for doing that. he was asking to be fucked with by the home fans.

See, I don't give a rats ass what a rape-condoning, trash-talking, computer geek like you thinks of me...the only reason this came up at all if your juvenile little babble about the value of a WVU degree. See, you shouldn't speak of things you don't really know about (I realize that leaves you to discuss Pitt football and raping teenagers, but the silence will be golden)...just makes you look stupid.

i have nothing against wearing another teams jersey to an away game, in fact I encourage it. Wearing the visiting teams colors in the student section of a college football game where 97% of the fans are 1. drunk, 2. immateur or both is just moronic.

WVU is trash. That's all I need to know. Any school that will allow the enrollment of Noel "oops I made another kid" Devine and Pat "Let's go rob a Ice Cream Stand" Lazear is crap.

The only major down there that is respectable is the forensic science department. Other than that it's a joke.

actually that's not true at Pitt football games. 97% of the fans in the student section are empty seats.

Saying the same stupid shit over and over again doesn't make it true...guess they didn't teach you that at Pitt. Or maybe they did. Would explain a lot.

I agree. Now we just have to hope that this thread doesn't come to a screeching halt.

Prove one thing I said is untrue about WVU?

An employer who had to choose between similar students with the same degree form Pitt and WVU would choose Pitt everytime. Engineering, Business, Dental, Pharmacy, Medical. You might win on archery.

Big Blue.

This could mean:

IBM - Maybe a janitor.

Progressive Insurance - Maybe an underwriter?

Big Blue - a fictional planet in the F-Zero racing videogame series (from wikipedia), as asinine as NYPirate is, this might fit.

Big Blue Bus - Bus Driver?

There are many times when I wonder if Sloshultura 5000 has been using the screenames NY Pirate and IR Hotspot just to stir shit up.

They both started posting here right around the time when Slosh took a hiatus and then came back as SepulturaFan.

Nobody is better at fucking with people (other than Animal) and stirring up shit on a message board that the Sloshmeister. Anyone else think that this is a possibility?

True. But Slosh knows that he's intelligent and clever, so wouldn't posting like a total retard be the ultimate decoy?

I'm not saying it's definite, but the less Sloshultura posts here and the more that NYP and Hotspot do, it makes me curious.

I wore my Pirate hat and Jersey to Citizens Bank when the Buccos played the Phils.

When I stood up when Freddy hit the homer to put us ahead (albeit for like two innings) some guy yelled at me to sit down and shut up. I continued to stand, I expected to get hit with something yet I didn't. I would have understood if I had though.

I concur with this statement. Hopefully the tomatoes are still green, so they pack more of a wallop.
