May 23-25 v. Cubs

June 6-8 v. Dbacks
June 20-22 v. Blue Jays
June 27-29 v. D-Rays (or Rays now, I guess)

July 11-13 v. Cards

August 15-17 v. Mets
August 29-31 v. Brewers

Sept. 12-14 v. Cards
Sept. 19-21 v. Astros

As I type this, those dates work great for me.

I still think the Padres would be quite the team to schedule for our first bigtime meeting.

I actually thought Tony LaRussa and the Cards would be a good game for the board.

The more I think about it, the more i'm convinced Jwill should never tell his family and loved ones what he did last year, because if he did, they'd probably drop a turd right on the floor.

Think about it, he goes from Bumfuck, NE to Bumfuck, WV for the sole purpose of working. But, while in Bumfuck, WV, he makes plans over the internet with some guy he's never met before to meet him at a truck stop outside of Wheeling to haul him into Pittsburgh for a baseball game with some friends.

It could have just as easily been Chris Hansen with a six pack of Zima waiting for him.

QUOTE (mvk112 @ Dec 14 2007, 02:40 PM)
QUOTE
Go to a half decent hotel, talk to the staff, slip the concierge a 50 get a cab!

it's alot different when you are at a bar at 2:00, drunk, and trying to get home, instead of at a hotel. and why on earth would you pay a concierge $50 to get a cab?

and i will admit, i haven't tried too often to get cabs, but the few times i have, it was a long wait.

I only brought up the concierge because YOU said it was hard to get a taxi in Pittsburgh and I was giving an example of a way that you could easily get one, even if you are the type of girl who thinks it's hard to get one.

If you stagger out of a bar at 2:00 AM and are too incompetent to get a cab, you can stumble your way to the nearest hotel and get a cab through the concierge. If you are not a patron of that hotel, you tip him 50. It's basic etiquette. If you ARE a patron of that hotel, then you're home already and don't need the cab.

Getting a taxi in Pittsburgh is super easy. Always has been. If someone is too incompetent to get one, all they have to do is go to the nearest slice of civilization and tip their way into taxi heaven.

But really - what kind of person has trouble getting a taxi in Pittsburgh? No one I know does. It's not an urban jungle. It's friendly, mild, easy Pittsburgh. Again, if I were a desperate half-wit and had no other options, I'd head to the nearest hotel.

So even idiots with syphilis on the brain can get a cab in Pittsburgh.
Trust me, I know. Heh.

But what kind of pussy can't get a cab in Pittsburgh? Seriously. I fucking AM a pussy and have no problem with it.

It is no problem getting a taxi in Pittsburgh. Again, the only reason I brought up the conci was to give one example of how a half-intelligent person could get a cab if he wanted to, any time of night, even if he is without wit or experience.

I don't think it's difficult, but for people who do, they have options. That is one of MANY.

I know this cool crack den on South Bouquet street where we can all crash.

and MVK's right, there's no cabs in Pittsburgh. The problem isn't that they're hard to get. They just don't exist.

Do the cabbies in Pittsburgh speak Spanish?

I hear that makes them better somehow.

but wouldn't it be cheaper for Zimm to just stay at the hotel by PNC Park, rather than wander around a city he is unfamiliar with, looking for a hotel so he can pay $50 for a concierge to get him a cab to go to his motel in the suburbs, which will cost another, what $20 or so?

the way you are making it sound, there are cabs all over the place. you still have to call the cab and wait for it to show up. i know it works, ive done it before. but it takes a bit of time for the cab to get there in most cases.

it doesn't really matter to me anyway, because i drive anytime i go anywhere now, so its a moot point to me.

Yeah keep in mind my wandering back to the hotel is most likely to occur following a night at the bars after the game.

I believe this thread has officially reached epic status. If a threads epicness were graded like Hurricanes are, we'd be heading towards category six territory...and those don't even exist.

I'm in for any weekend, on one condition...

I graduate in May. God knows where my next job will be. So if I end up having to work in Reach-Around, Montana and miss this epic event, I expect a seat and a half to be saved with a Cowboys blanket for you all missing my fat ass.

Otherwise, I'll take up that space myself.

With my New York City savoir faire, rugged Hollywood good looks, and superior taste in couture, I'm afraid I may not blend in so well with the steel workers, so you would probably be able to pick me out rather quickly.

If you want to get beat up you do.

We should all hang out for a while and then have a test where you have to guess people's indentity.

It was easy to figure out the last time.

I'd likely have to, for the first time here, release some of my personal info before this trip.

That sounds a little scary.

Did PSU just admit to being a midget?

Or maybe he's black.

Not scary, well maybe somewhat. But I don't believe I've ever talked about any of my personal life here unless I can't remember. I think it would surprise some people, so I'm not sure if I'm ready to divulge.

This thread has just gone from epic to...I don't even know what to call it.

But I'm intrigued to say the least.

Herrm, as long as I have a face, you have a place to sit.

That just took the thread to epic status if it wasn't there already. Best post I have seen in a while.

I will say this.  I have no idea how I missed King of Queens when it was still running as a sit-com.  I started watching it when TBS picked it up as re-runs and, I love it.  Absolutely love it.

He is Kevin James.

Or a delivery guy. Or a person who enjoys situational comedies.

Jerry Stiller. The funniest old man of all-time?

He has an old man fetish.

Maybe PSU is an amputee.

Or a tranny.

I guess that would kinda be the same thing in a way.

That's exactly why I didn't take any guesses. If you guess what his secret info is and say it in a joking manner, it will come off as insulting.

Maybe he/she is in a wheelchair and that's certainly not anything to joke around about.

Or perhaps he's going to reveal that his dong is 22 inches and that he has to wrap it around his waist in order to walk.

No physical defects or anything like that here(not that there's anything wrong with that). If people are having fun with it, they can guess all they want, but based on the speculation I have a feeling that some people will be disappointed.

Well Done,

but you should actually say

as soon as Maholm walks Anthony Reyes

Well, if this is actually going to be planned, I'd like to say that I'm getting married May 17 and then will be in San Diego the next week for my honeymoon, so May 16-May 25 is pretty much out for me.

Congrats Nick. If I cant make the game, I will be at the wedding, or more likely the honeymoon, SD is great. I'm sure she wont mind.

Oh, and you know a guy who once painted a parking lot blue.

Why isn't that story in the story thread anyways?

I would almost be scared to talk at the game if I was near JWill and Bayliss. For some reason I feel like they would both be equipt with printouts of every players VORP and OPS+ and be able to quickly shoot down anything I say and laugh in my face. I'm a wuss.

Who would that be?
